School Projects For Green Week
Green week in the United States comes in February. All schools are encouraged to participate in this sometime before April. This gives the children a way to see exactly how energy is produced by using natural resources. The children are shown different ways to build projects so they can understand better about what going green means.
There are no hidden fees for schools when they chose to participate in green week. The program is totally free for any school that wishes to participate. This is a way for children to learn about the different problems of the environment and what can be done so the environment will be better. The program shows all children how they can do small things that will help to make a big difference. The schools are encouraged to let the children have hands on experience. It can be simple projects that are shown to the children. They could learn how to make compost with the peel from apples or oranges.
The school could make arrangements with a nursery so the children could help to plant trees for a day. Trees are cut down faster then they are planted and the trees help produce oxygen into the air.
Most schools offer all communications on line now. If the parents of the children can be encouraged to look at different items on line then this is also a form of going green. The trees will no longer be cut down to make the paper to write everything on to send the parents.
When students bring snacks and lunches to school there is a lot of trash that is thrown away. A recycle bin could be sat up in the classroom and the children could be encouraged to place their recyclables in the bin. At the end of the week the children can see how many different items they use that can be recycled instead of placed in the trash cans.
Discuss with the children about what fossil fuels are and how they are used. Explain to them why we need to find natural ways of helping the environment instead of relying on the fossil fuels. Explain how homes can be heated with wind power or even solar panels. Explain why it is so important to recycle items and not place them in the trash for the dumps.
By schools participating in green week it is making children more aware of their environment and the problems it is facing.
